With more than half of the Magnificent 7 having reported, sentiment softened, as strong AI demand was overshadowed by growing concerns about the cost of scaling infrastructure and the timing of returns. Amazon, Alphabet and Microsoft drove the decline, with accelerating capital spending, higher depreciation and energy costs, and mounting pressure to demonstrate AI monetization weighing on the outlook. Meta and Tesla provided some offset with improving sentiment, but the broader shift suggests investors are becoming more focused on profitability, capacity utilization and returns on an increasingly expensive AI buildout.
This preliminary reading reflects five of seven companies reporting. The index will be updated as the remaining companies report.
The AlphaSense Sentiment Score is calculated as the net sum of positive and negative discourse in public company earnings call transcripts. It is powered by the AlphaSense Sentiment language model that applies deep domain-aware semantic reasoning to financial disclosure commentary and dialogue. It identifies significant shifts in executive tone and intent down to the sentence level, highlighted and auditable in all transcripts within the AlphaSense platform. This model delivers a normalized sentiment score (-100 to 100) that allows the tracking and identification of sentiment shifts based on what executives across thousands of public companies are discussing on earnings calls.
